The Wonderfully Weird World of Politics

Okay seriously, if the end of the world isn't near then something is terribly wrong. While they may not admit to it, I now believe that our beloved GOPPers are now becoming victims of the harsh realities of their political world. This week something happened that I never expected to witness for at least another year. A Republican switched sides. I know, as the girls at my school would say, it's like so totally Armageddon. Okay, okay it hasn't gotten that far (yet) and it is quite obvious that Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania is just trying to follow the votes, he has even admitted to it. Maybe he is being a smart politician by playing up the mass exodus of his constituents, and therefore his bosses, and doing exactly what he believes will keep him from losing in the next election. While we know the Republican party has been suffering lately from its November losses, it seems that with each passing day they become more and more desperate to cling on to any remaining lifelines, and this desperation has caused many Republicans to choose between playing to their hardcore base or realigning themselves with more moderate views. We hear more about those who chose to become speakers for the radical right, but now it seems that with Specter's new course as a Democrat, we may begin to see more Republicans seeing the light of the middle-ground. Eh, who knows maybe eventually they'll all see the light of day...yea while I keep dreaming it's time for every American and any other interested parties to keep a close eye on the political sphere. Everything is heating up and it's all getting very very interesting.
