Why is it that as an immigrant I often seem to know more about this country than those who were born here?
Maybe they just take things for granted here so they don't bother to look thing up, or maybe they just forgot what they were taught in school.
Still it is quite unnerving to meet an American who doesn't know that there are nine Supreme Court justices or that the first Constitutional President of the United States was George Washington (not Abraham Lincoln as I have heard way more times than I care to remember).
I often give these people some slack and try not to embarrass them, but it gets harder every time.
That's my random thought for today.
